Valve teams up with KOMODO to deliver Steam Deck in Asia
World’s Most Powerful Gaming Handheld To Be Shown at BitSummit & Tokyo Game Show

Valve and KOMODO revealed today their plans to deliver Valve’s Steam Deck in Asia. The first units are targeted to arrive in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan late this year, and online reservations can be placed now at https://steamdeck.komodo.jp/

“We hope that gamers in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan agree with us that the performance and design of the Steam Deck makes it a great way to play the games they know and love,” said Gabe Newell, President and CEO of Valve.

Shipments will begin in Japan, with additional units planned to ship to customers in Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan in the weeks immediately following. The world’s most powerful gaming handheld, which is also a full-fledged PC, first arrived in North America and parts of Europe in February to rave reviews and with hundreds of compatible single and multiplayer games.

Co-founded by Ricky Uy and Jack Momose, KOMODO was formed as a spin-off of Degica’s games division into a new, independently-owned company bringing years of game publishing experience, including distributing Valve’s Index VR system in the region. In addition, Mr. Uy previously led Steam’s business development efforts in Asia at Valve during a period of rapid growth in the region, and Mr. Momose, who is also the founder of Degica, has worked with Valve for years as a publisher and by providing regional payment services for Steam.

“We are very excited to be working with KOMODO to bring Steam Deck to Asia. We have worked with the team at KOMODO for years, and we have high confidence that they'll help us make customers very happy,” says Greg Coomer of Valve.

Beyond its latest distribution plans with Valve, KOMODO also develops and publishes games for Steam, and will reveal its first in-house production on Steam Deck this weekend at the BitSummit conference in Kyoto, Japan and in September at Tokyo Game Show.

“We are honored to deliver Steam Deck to gamers in Asia, and look forward to showcasing it and our first in-house game in Kyoto this weekend and at Tokyo Game Show next month,” said Ricky Uy, CEO of KOMODO.

Steam Deck is a powerful handheld gaming PC that runs thousands of games already known and loved by gamers worldwide, including many AAA franchises popular around the world. It has been designed for ease of use, ergonomics, and comfort, and is customizable to fit each gamer's play style. Customers can reserve a Steam Deck immediately.

  • ¥59,800 in Japan
  • NT$ 13,380 in Taiwan
